Product Review: Lipmatic by DestinyJones

Recently, I was sent a package from Destiny Jones (daughter of legendary lyricist Nas) with the latest shades of her lip product line “Lipmatic”. Destiny Jones debuted her lip gloss line, Lipmatic, in 2014 with a collection of four shades and an organic formula. First thing I noticed was the logo - a very catchy design paying homage to the 20th anniversary of her father’s classic “Illmatic” album. You’ll also notice the various sizes of the packaging which is a symbol of their textures: the liquid matte formulas are in a wider tube; glosses in smaller ones. My guess is mainly because the wand shape has to be wider for more coverage with the liquid mattes. There was an assortment of nudes in both matte & gloss texture, a stunning red as well as a bold burgundy shade. While I’m not a personal fan of liquid matte textures, I loved that this one didn’t make my lips crack or feel too dry. I did however notice that it does set really fast so there’s not a lot of play time with it. The coverage is great with a vibrant color pay off. The next step was playing on model with perfect lips & boom! Kiara comes along and naturally slays every shade. We played with “Lady Liberty”, “Street Dreams”, “Gotham City” “The Big Apple” & “Queensbridge Bricks” which are all also catchy plays on some of her dad’s songs as well an ode to New York City. I highly recommend using a brown liner in a shade close to your skin tone as I did here on Kiara (I used “Stripdown” by MAC) when wearing the nude shades to avoid the “donut mouth” look lol. Overall, I love the nude glosses for myself. My clients will love the liquid matte shades, especially “Lady Liberty” for bridal looks. You can shop Lipmatic by Destiny Jones on her website www.lipmatic.com with prices ranging from $14-$16 per gloss. 💋
